We are looking for titles for our late-2018 publishing calendar. In nonfiction, we are looking for humorous memoirs and other types of creative nonfiction. We would love to see a collection of essays. We are also interested in solidly researched, more traditional nonfiction that is off the beaten path (remember our motto: Go a little crazy…). Please no cookbooks, and nothing related to health, spirituality, or religion (see above motto). In fiction, we’ll look at just about anything. However, keep in mind that we are generally not fans of vampires, zombies, or anything that involves magic wands and the likes. That’s about it. So fire away.
Email submissions to: submissions[at]runamokbooks[dot]com
Send a detailed synopsis and table of contents (if you have one), along with the first 25 pp of your finished ms to the email address above. Please send these 3 documents as doc, docx, or pdf files, and send them as attachments. Please put your name somewhere in the document names, so we can determine who the document belongs to without having to open it.
We will respond with an initial e-mail to let you know we have received your submission. A final decision can take anywhere between 2 weeks and 6 months. Apologies for that, but we are a small press and our staff and resources are limited.
If your ms is accepted for publication, Run Amok will take care of all aspects of the book’s publication, at no cost to you. In a word, we DO NOT charge authors anything for our services. However, we do expect authors to be strong participants in the promotion of their book, and authors who already have an online presence/platform will be given priority. Cash advances are generally reserved for authors who have a proven track record with previously published books (particularly with us) and to be fully transparent, these cash advances are small–meant to be more a gesture of goodwill than anything else. At this time, we cannot offer advances to debut authors, however all authors will receive a handsome percentage of the profits made from selling their book (far above the industry standard). We will negotiate with authors on these finer points after acceptance.
