About Books News Contact Submissions
We are closed for submissions until further notice

We are looking for titles for our 2021 publishing calendar. In nonfiction, we are looking for humorous memoirs and other types of creative nonfiction. We would love to see a collection of essays. We are also interested in solidly researched, more traditional nonfiction that is off the beaten path (remember our motto: Go a little crazy…). Please no cookbooks, and nothing related to health, spirituality, or religion (see above motto). In fiction, we’ll look at just about anything. However, keep in mind that we are generally not fans of vampires, zombies, or anything that involves magic wands and the likes. That’s about it. So fire away.

Email submissions to: submissions[at]runamokbooks[dot]com

Send a detailed synopsis and table of contents (if you have one), along with the first 25 pp of your finished ms to the email address above. Please send these 3 documents as doc, docx, or pdf files, and send them as attachments. Please put your name somewhere in the document names, so we can determine who the document belongs to without having to open it.

We will respond with an initial e-mail to let you know we have received your submission. A final decision can take anywhere between 2 weeks and 6 months. Apologies for that, but we are a small press and our staff and resources are limited.

Before a ms is accepted for publication it will need to be proofread/edited. This is the sole responsibility of the author. You may wish to have it done professionally or by friends or colleagues who have the necessary expertise. The choice is yours.  We simply do not have the resources to do ms edits in-house. We may suggest revisions if/when we see them, but we cannot be responsible for ensuring that the ms is error-free. Please be aware that we will take the quality of the ms into account while we are reviewing it. If we feel it is not ready to publish as is, we will most likely reject it.

If we love the book and feel that it’s ready to publish, we’ll begin negotiating a contract with the author. At that time, we will also discuss author’s royalty rates, as well as the publishers and authors responsibilities for getting the book to press.
